Failures with the Moncler QR code system :

"Why does a legit authenticity code not register on Moncler's website?"

This has become a common question lately and there are a few reasons that this happens:

1. The most common reason has to do with their algorithm for tracking inquiries on these codes. Because some fakes use a legitimate code from an original jacket on a counterfeit, the system has no way of determining if it's a real item or a fake using the code. The only way they can try to determine if a code may have been used on a fake is to track the number of times the code is checked on their website from different IP addresses. Nobody but Moncler knows the limit to how many times a code can be checked without suspicion, but once that threshold is exceeded, the code will no longer automatically register and you will have to follow the steps on their website to authenticate your Moncler.

Online sales of Moncler items where the QR code is displayed is a contributing factor to this problem because anybody can go to Moncler's website and check the code, and after too many times, it will no longer work.

2. Although not very common, occasionally there may be an error in their database where a legitimate code is not properly logged. I have heard from people who bought a brand new jacket from an authorized retailer and the code immediately did not work. As much of an inconvenience as it is, contacting Moncler or completing the various steps required on their website will allow them to clear up the issue.

3. Lastly, and I am not sure if they still do this, but in the past, they have tracked the number of times a specific user, based on IP address, uses their website to check codes, and once you exceed their threshold, you will no longer be able to register a code without going through the extra steps required. This very thing happened to me years ago and they confirmed that it was because I exceeded their limit of QR code inquiries per user. They did revamp their system in 2017 so I am not sure if they still do this or not.

Ultimately, Moncler created their authentication system specifically for people who purchase their items, which is why they require proof of purchase. The system is not meant to be used to check authenticity prior to purchasing, or for third party authenticators such as myself.
