Sometimes it's very easy to spot a fake just by looking at the brand label. Since about 2005, Moncler has used the off-white label with blue and red print. While the design of the label has changed ever so slightly over the years, the details of this label are 100% consistent with labels from the same generation/years.

This version of the label is less commonly seen than the others. I believe it's the first generation of the white brand label and was used somewhere between the early 2000s brown label and the 2005-2008 variation seen below. It's also commonly seen on older children's jackets. I am estimating it was used on some jackets made around 2004-2005, but also seen on some childrens' jackets prior to 2013. Some mid 2000s items will have the size tag sewn to the bottom left side as seen here.

What makes this label different from the 2005-2008 one? Look closely at the letter C on both labels, above and below. On the above label, the C is slightly more rounded, especially noticeable at the bottom right edge of the letter. Other than that, the 2 labels appear to be identical.

This variation of the label was used from 2005 through 2008.

In 2009 they made a slight change to the label. This is most noticeable in the letter C and the tail feathers in comparison to the previous label.

In 2011 there was another update to the label. Again, there is a slight difference in the bottom of the letter C.

Then in 2016 they again changed the label. Again, the letter C has changed, as well as the tail feathers, and the slant of the serifs at the bottom of the letters L and E.

Altough this label was on all jackets starting in 2016, there are spring/summer collection items from 2015 that have this label, and even a few rare 2014 jackets.

The reason for these changes could have to do with a change in manufacturer for the label, or it could be to stay one step ahead of the counterfeiters.

Regarding stitching, some people think that poor stitching is a sign of a fake. That is not necessarily true. This label is from an authentic 2009 jacket.

Much like the logo, fake brand labels can all look slightly different in size, lettering and color:

The size of the brand label is consistent from one Moncler jacket to the next. The dimensions of the label should be about 2-9/16 inches " (6.5 cm) high and 2-1/2 inches (6.3 cm) wide.

Another thing to check is the spacing between the border of the label and the lettering. It should be 1 cm from the edge of the label to the very center of the "foot" at the bottom of the letters M and R as shown here in this photo.

The brand label is generally found in one of two places. Most commonly it will be in the top center below the collar, but on some models it will be found on the lower left part of the jacket lining (when wearing) just above the cartoon. There seems to be no consistency when it comes to the location of the label as the same model from different years may have it in different places.

Sometimes looking closely at the finest details can expose a fake. Take a look at this photo of an authentic Moncler label at the top compared to a fake below it:
Pay attention to the top right corner of the letter "N" and notice how it is aligned with the cockerel emblem. If you were to draw a line straight up the right side of the letter "N" to the emblem you would see that on the fake label it's closer to the center of the emblem:

While this may not seem like much, when it comes to Moncler and every label being consistent in this alignment for over 10 years, this is a telltale sign of a fake and the kind of detail that any professional authenticator should be looking for when checking a Moncler jacket.

I have been asked many times in the past about different labels on Moncler jackets. The following labels are from vintage Moncler jackets, produced in the 1990's and early 2000's.
It is my understanding that back when Moncler jackets had these labels they were not yet a well known designer brand, and so counterfeits did not yet exist. I believe it was somewhere around 2005 that counterfeits started being produced.
