One way to avoid buying a fake Moncler is to know who NOT to buy from. While there is a lot to read on this page, it's all important information if you are looking to buy a Moncler jacket online.

Also listed on this page near the bottom are a number of websites/ebay sellers that I consider to be trustworthy or reputable when it comes to selling Moncler items.

Anytime you purchase a Moncler jacket online, make sure you pay with a credit card, or if using PayPal, fund the transaction with your credit card. NEVER under any circumstances should you pay with PayPal's "friends and family" option. There is NO buyer protection when using this payment method.

When it comes to online sellers of Moncler, here are a few things you need to be aware of:

Bulgaria:

First and foremost, NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a Moncler from ANY seller located in Bulgaria, and whether it be ebay, Vestiaire Collective, etc. there are A LOT of them. That country is the fake Moncler capital of the world and of all the years I have been watching Moncler jacket listings on ebay, I don't believe I have ever seen an authentic one being sold out of Bulgaria. If you buy a Moncler from anyone in Bulgaria, you will defintely end up with a fake.

Moncler DOES have a factory in Bulgaria and many Bulgarian ebay sellers try to capitalize on that by claiming that they have factory direct contacts at Moncler but it is just an outright lie in an attempt to sell you a cheaply made knock off. Be aware that there are also sellers out Romania making the same false claims.

It doesn't matter how good the seller's feedback is....

If they are in Bulgaria, they are selling fakes.

ebay:

While ebay has taken steps lately to crack down on fakes, it's still not 100% reliable as their staff can't tell the difference. They also do not take down listings that are reported as fakes. Unless you know ahead of time that what you are buying is authentic, it's best to avoid buying Moncler off ebay. ALL sellers of fakes on ebay claim that what they are selling is authentic, so the seller's word means nothing.

Poshmark/Grailed/DePop:

These websites are meant for person to person sales of fashion clothing and accessories. While they claim they have a policy against counterfeits, they don't necessarily enforce it, even when you report it to them and it's an obvious fake. Buying off these sites is risky unless you really know how to spot a fake.

When it comes to Poshmark, anything selling for $500 or more is shipped to their facility for authentication before going to the customer. However, I have no faith in their "experts" to be able to identify all fakes. In addition, most fake Moncler jackets on their site intentionally sell for under $500 so there is no authentication.

My recommendation is to never buy from Grailed! I received a message from a buyer who purchased a fake Moncler off someone who was an admin to that website with 2000+ positive ratings. When he opened a case they denied his claim, stating that they determined it to be an authentic Moncler. Then when the buyer left a negative rating for the seller, Grailed changed it to a positive rating. Again, do not buy from Grailed! Their supposed "expert team of digital moderators" regularly label fakes as authentic on the site. In addition, they have also removed listings for authentic Monclers claiming they are fake.

Raul Smith

Based in the U.K., their website appears to be legit but I heard from at least 2 people who bought Moncler jackets from them that were fake. I would not trust the reviews on their website because they are likely only displaying the positive ones. If you search their reviews on trustpilot.com, they may have a lot of positives, but also negatives, most of which are for selling fakes.

fashionbarnshop.com:

Based in New York, USA, this store's website appears to be legit in every way, selling designer brands at slightly reduced prices. However, I heard from someone who was trying to find a previous year's Moncler model that was not available at any other USA retailer, including Moncler stores. This website had it in ALL SIZES. This buyer ended up with a terrible fake.

iOffer:

This website, which is similar to ebay, is loaded with Chinese counterfeiters selling fake designer brands. Anything you buy off this site, Moncler or other name brand, is going to be a fake.

Imposter Moncler websites:

Other than Moncler's official website, do not trust any other site using the Moncler name in their web address, any site calling themselves a "Moncler outlet store", or any site selling ONLY Moncler jackets. These sites are set up intentionally to be deceptive, using authentic Moncler photos and logos but they are all Chinese counterfeit factories. This is a screen shot taken from one of these fake Moncler sites:

It looks legitimate doesn't it? Of course it does, because it's meant to look that way. There are even fake sites that are near exact copies of Moncler's website. Beware!

Any sites using generic words in the web address such as jackets, sale, cheap, wholesale, outlet, etc. are NEVER authentic Moncler dealers, and any website selling the full winter line year round is a counterfeiter. Moncler's winter line is very limited, and available from about September through January for the most part until all stock is sold out.

Keep in mind that any website selling Moncler jackets at considerable discounts is a counterfeit factory. Moncler's pricing is company regulated and their jackets seldom ever go on sale, except for end of season clearance at some retailers, so they would never allow any legitimate dealer to sell their jackets at a price that is in direct competition with their official online store (store.moncler.com).

All of these websites will insist that their Moncler jackets are authentic, factory direct, etc. but remember that these people are producing counterfeits to MAKE MONEY and they will say whatever it takes to get you to buy from them. Many of these sites have a return policy but they may not honor it, and it also requires you to ship the package back to China which is expensive in itself.

One rule of thumb when it comes to websites selling Moncler: Find the Contact Us link and click on it. If there is no physical address and phone number, it's NOT going to be a legitimate Moncler dealer.

Unauthorized factory productions:

This is something that you don't see a lot, but it does happen. From what I have been told, factories where Moncler jackets are made also produce other brands of clothing. Some Moncler factory workers steal authentic Moncler parts (tags, labels, logo, cartoon) during the Moncler shift, and then stay after hours when the Moncler shift has ended and put together a jacket that looks authentic in every way, but may be missing certain tags, especially the authenticity tag, or some pieces may be sewn in the wrong place. I have also seen a 2011-2015 label style on a jacket containing a DIST tag which was not introduced until 2017.

An ebay seller based in the U.K. by the name moro-fashion has been selling such items. Everything looks authentic but the industries tag is missing. The seller offers a convincing story when questioned about authenticity, but it's clear that these are not genuine Moncler items.

So who can you trust?

Other than buying directly from Moncler or from one of their many authorized retailers and paying full retail price, there is never an absolute guarantee of authenticity when buying elsewhere. There are some websites that have a commitment to authentic designer merchanside and you can get used Moncler jackets at a lower price. While I can't make guarantees, these siteswhen I browse the Moncler listings on these websites, almost everything I see is authentic. Two of the websites that I know of are:

Vestiaire Collective
The Real Real

Vestiaire Collective is not 100% reliable from what I have heard, as their authenticators are not always accurate in their authentications, so it's a slight risk, but not as much as some of the above mentioned sites. I have heard that their customer service is less than desirable when it comes to getting a refund for a fake. Supposedly they accept ANY receipt from a seller as proof of authenticity! They have a tendency to drag their feet and you end up waiting for weeks for them to finally make a decision. Best to stay away from that site unless you are absolutely certain what is being sold is authentic.

There are also some trustworthy private sellers in Europe that sell pre-owned Moncler items:

HB Authenticated Luxury Wear
UK Designers

In addition, there are a some trustworthy sellers on ebay that sell pre-owned or overstock Moncler jackets, and I have never seen any of them selling a fake. Some of these accounts may no longer be actively selling Moncler or may have stock at only certain times of the year.
