THE CRUISE FASHION/FLANNELS RIP-OFF

Cruise Fashion and Flannels out of the U.K. are a known retailer of designer goods and an authorized Moncler retailer. However, in 2016 these stores obtained a large quantity of fake Moncler jackets. One might assume that their upper management didn't know they were fakes, however, these jackets were eventually liquidated at well below Moncler's standard retail price which would be a good indication that they got them cheap from an alternative supplier.

In addition, I have recently found out that Choice stores in the UK also sold some of these same fakes around the same time.

Many buyers have fallen victim to this and some have been discovering just recently that they were sold a fake. Although these counterfeits are no longer being sold at those stores, you may find pre-owned ones (or new) being sold online, either by people who bought them from Cruise/Flannels or websites with connections to the same counterfeit factory.

Not all Moncler jackets sold by these stores are or were fakes. The fakes I have been made aware of were all from the Longue Saison collection:

Daniel • Acorus • David • Lans • Athenes

A U.K. news outlet has released a story about this. Click here to read it.

Cruise/Flannels only sold these in 2016 but the counterfeiters have continued to produce these same fakes to this day.

This page will point out the details of these fakes and how to tell them apart from a real Moncler jacket.

Badge/Logo:
The letter R in the logo is what I consider to be the "tell-tale" sign of it being one of these particular fakes. Compare it to the authentic one on the right. Notice how the top half of the letter is too small compared to the real one? The tail feathers are also incorrect and the neck of the bird does not curve in toward the body like it should. Some of the lettering is imperfect such as the N.

Internal Label:
A couple things stand out when looking at this label. First, take a look at the letter C and compare it to the authentic label on the right. Notice how the letter is too rounded on the fake? Secondly, look at where the cockerel "M" emblem is aligned in comparison to the top right corner of the letter N. On an authentic label it is ALWAYS aligned with the right corner of the left leg of the bird. On the fake, it falls right in the center between the legs. This issue is also covered in the Brand Label section of the website.

Industries Tag:
In comparison to the authentic tag on the right, you can see that the text alignment is not the least bit accurate. In addition, any 2013 INDUSTRIES tag containing the 375 West Broadway address will have the word WEST misspelled as WETS. The fake has it spelled right as above, but not all of these fakes may have it spelled right.
This different style of industries tag from a fake ATHENES is more accurate, but still not a match when you compare it to an authentic tag of the same style on the right.

In addition, these jackets that were sold as brand new in 2016 have date codes of 2013 and 2014 on the tags. Authentic Moncler jackets sold at legitimate retailers are always consistent with the current season/year.

QR Code Tag:
In the QR code section of this website the issue of the incorrect font in the word MONCLER is covered. While there are many fakes that have an accurately copied QR code tag, all of the tags from this batch of counterfeits have this font mismatch. Spotting this detail requires either a magnifying glass, strong reading glasses, an enlarged photo, or perfect vision.

Fakes from this same counterfeit factory are now being produced with the new style of QR code tag but the rest of the issues with the logo, label and tags still apply.

The following are the copied QR codes that I know of to have been used on these fakes. There are probably others that have not been logged.

Since the changes Moncler made to their website in January 2018, these codes most likely will no longer register.

Here is one example of a newer style of RFID tag found on one of these fake Longue Saison jackets. Code has been copied from an original.

Down Tag:
It's easy to tell the difference in comparing these 2 tags. There is too much space between the top of the tag and the information, and the font is not a perfect match. The "snow" characters are also poorly copied.

Longue Saison Tag:
The tag is pretty accurate when it comes to the lettering in the center, however, the font used for MONCLER at the bottom is not a match. Also, the stitching is too far in from the edge on the fake.

While these fakes were sold by Cruise and Flannels for only a short period of time, the counterfeiters that produced these Longue Saison fakes continued making them afterward with the newer style of authenticity tag.
