The network of ebay fake sellers : People sometimes ask me how I know these jackets are counterfeits since they are so convincing. Here is my answer: In 2015 while regularly searching ebay for Moncler jackets, I began to notice many new Moncler Acorus jackets listed, all with the same photos, but from different selling accounts, some in the US and some in the UK. At first these jackets appeared to be authentic, however, upon closer examination I spotted a few things that just didn't look exactly right, especially the letter R in the logo. |
Notice how the bottom right corner of the letter R extends in a straight line to the top left corner of the letter? An authentic Moncler logo will never have a letter R that looks this way but the original batch of counterfeits from these sellers all had logos matching this one. |
I didn't pay much attention to this at the time because it's a common thing to see fakes sold on ebay, but then I began to notice a lot of brand new Dinant jackets being listed. Because I own one and I was aware that this model was no longer produced by Moncler, I began to wonder where these sellers were getting these brand new jackets that were discontinued and sold out long ago. After looking at the photos I realized that these jackets also had the same logo with the strange looking letter R. I researched the ID's of the sellers and found out that they were the same ones that had been selling the Acorus jackets. Then I started seeing Chevalier jackets (another discontinued model) being listed as brand new by these same sellers, and then other models began to appear and suddenly it was as many as 6 sellers, most of them being new accounts, selling these jackets using the same photos, and it became obvious that all of the accounts were connected. Then I began to get occasional inquiries from people who bought these jackets, who were asking me about authenticity. The QR code matched up to the correct model when checked online but a close look at the QR code tag revealed a flaw in the font used on the word MONCLER. This is covered in the QR code section of the website. At this point it was easy to tell that these were well made counterfeits using authenticity codes copied from an authentic jacket of the same model. One person who contacted me bought 2 Chevaliers in different colors and both had the same code. This is when I began to use my ebay buying guide to inform others about these sellers. While I was not allowed to call out the sellers by name due to ebay policy, I did my best to describe the jackets and explain what to look for in the logo and QR code tag. I also urged buyers to always check a seller's past sales to see if they sell a lot of the same jackets. At some point all of these sellers made their feedback private so their past sales could not easily be viewed without using the advanced search feature. They also all changed their ebay ID's. What successful seller would want to make their past sales difficult to view and change their ID unless they were trying to hide something? I began to document the copied QR codes they were using and the following year they began using several different copied QR codes for each model of jacket. Being that anybody can walk into any store selling Moncler and write down or photograph a legitimate authenticity code, it was not difficult for them to acquire these codes. These are the copied codes that I have documented as being used on their counterfeits, although there are probably many more not listed here: |

Keep in mind that although the above codes are commonly found on fakes, there was ONE authentic jacket produced with each one of these codes and those jackets are also out there somewhere in the world. After 3 years of successful counterfeiting, Moncler has finally taken steps to flag these codes as suspicious and an attempt to check the code results in the website asking the user to contact Moncler. The counterfeiters are quickly making up excuses as to why the codes no longer register and offering a video showing that one of the codes used to register. What does that prove? I have heard from buyers who questioned them about authenticity after finding out they bought a fake, and they have a lot of stories that many people would believe. They claim they have direct Moncler connections (a common lie from counterfeiters) and that all of their stock is purchased from various Moncler outlet stores in Europe at discounted prices. First of all, anyone who knows Moncler knows that brand new jackets of discontinued models are impossible to find, and if you have ever been to a Moncler outlet store, you would find that most of the jackets they have are not common/popular styles. NOBODY is getting large quantities of the most popular jacket styles from 2-3 years ago from an outlet store. What they are telling people is an outright LIE! Something else that should set off alarm bells is that they have been selling the most popular styles of Moncler WINTER jackets throughout the entire SPRING AND SUMMER! Moncler's winter jacket line is limited and NO legitimate Moncler dealer EVER has stock in their winter line during spring and summer months, until August when the new autumn/winter line is released! They also claim that they provide proof of authenticity to ebay and PayPal for each listing. This is another outright LIE. Ebay and PayPal DO NOT EVER ask for any proof of authenticity when listing ANY Moncler item, authentic or fake. These sellers have even gone as far as manufacturing a fake receipt from Moncler showing the purchase of the jackets in an attempt to convince a buyer of authenticity. Seriously??? If you can produce a counterfeit designer jacket why would anyone think you couldn't produce a counterfeit paper receipt? This is a receipt they sent to one buyer in an attempt to convince them the Harrison jacket they sold them was originally purchased at a Moncler store: |
First take a look at the date toward the bottom. The year is 2017. There is one problem. The HARRISON jacket was produced in 2014. No Moncler store will EVER have 3 year old jackets in stock. Clearly this is a fake receipt. Here is a response they sent to one buyer who complained after learning from my website that they sold him a counterfeit Moncler: |
The details they list in numbers 1-6 prove that they know exactly what needs to be perfectly duplicated in order to make a convincing counterfeit Moncler jacket. Another thing they may recommended when questioned about authenticity is to take the jacket to a Moncler store to have it authenticated. Why would they suggest that if they are selling fakes? It's a very simple answer. Moncler store employees are trained in retail sales, NOT in authentication, and unless they know specifically what to look for on these jackets, they may not be able to identify one of these as the counterfeit that it is, and therefore, both the store employee and the buyer will be mislead to believe it's authentic. In addition, I believe that Moncler store employees are not authorized by Moncler to do authentications. The leader and primary seller in this counterfeit network is a Bulgarian who goes by the fake name "Robert Barron". I would not be surprised if this is where he got his name because the definition fits him to a tee: |
This con artist has made ridiculous claims that he and I had a falling out over a business dealing in Moncler jackets and that I am using this website out of revenge, and he makes all kinds of claims to try to discredit me. First of all, I have been using ebay and YouTube to help buyers avoid fake Monclers since 2010, which is 5 years before their counterfeit operation even began, and my website and other online resources target ANY and ALL sellers of counterfeit Moncler jackets. It just so happens that currently they are the biggest offenders and my goal is to alert as many buyers as possible to their counterfeit operation. This seller has also told people that he has emails of conversations between myself and him over this "business venture". I personally would LOVE to see these emails of conversations that I was never a part of. Bottom line: Regardless of how convincing their jackets might appear or how believable their stories are, these are the SAME SELLERS that in 2015 were selling hundreds of fake Moncler jackets containing these clear imperfections: |
They didn't suddenly start selling authentic Moncler jackets the following year. They simply corrected the above 2 issues on their next mass production of fakes and they are still the same CON ARTISTS that they always were. |
